AFTERCARE

Proper aftercare is essential to achieve the best results from your eyeliner tattooing. Following these steps will help your tattoo heal properly and ensure long-lasting colour and definition.

Day of the Procedure

1. Gently Blot the Area:

• Use a clean cotton pad or tissue to gently blot the eyelids every 30 minutes for the first few hours. This helps absorb any excess lymph fluid and prevents crusting.

2. Avoid Washing:

• Do not wash the area or expose your eyes to water on the day of the procedure. Let the area settle naturally.

Days 1–7

1. Cleanse Gently:

• From the second day, gently clean the eye area once daily.

• Use a damp cotton pad and cool, sterile water to lightly dab around the tattooed area. Do not rub or tug at the skin.

2. Apply Aftercare Ointment:

• Apply a small amount of the provided aftercare ointment (or as recommended by your tattoo artist) using a clean cotton bud. Only use a thin layer to keep the area hydrated.

3. Avoid Touching or Picking:

• Do not touch the tattooed area with your fingers unless applying aftercare. Avoid rubbing, scratching, or picking at the area, even if it becomes itchy or flaky.

Things to Avoid During Healing (Days 1–10):

1. Water Submersion:

• Avoid swimming, saunas, hot tubs, or excessive steaming. Keep the area dry when showering.

2. Makeup and Skincare Products:

• Do not apply makeup, mascara, or skincare products to the eyelids until the area has healed completely.

3. Excessive Sun Exposure:

• Avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds. Once healed, use sunglasses to protect your eyes and sunscreen around the area.

4. Harsh Products:

• Refrain from using exfoliating products, oils, or anything containing retinol or acids near the tattooed area.

Healing Process Expectations

Days 1–3: The eyeliner may appear darker and thicker due to swelling and pigment oxidising.

Days 3–5: The area may feel dry or tight, and mild flaking or scabbing may occur. This is normal—do not pick at the flakes.

Days 5–7: The colour may lighten or appear patchy as the skin heals. This is part of the process and will improve over time.

Weeks 4–6: The true colour and healed result will emerge once the skin has fully regenerated.

Long-Term Care

1. Touch-Up Appointment:

• A touch-up is usually required 6–8 weeks after the initial procedure to perfect the results.

2. Avoid Excessive Rubbing:

• Be gentle when cleansing your face or removing makeup to preserve the pigment over time.

3. Use Sunscreen:

• Apply SPF to protect your tattoo from fading due to sun exposure.

When to Seek Help

If you experience any of the following, contact your artist or a medical professional immediately:

• Redness or swelling that worsens after the first 48 hours

• Excessive pain or heat in the area

• Discharge of pus or fluid

By following these aftercare instructions, you can ensure your eyeliner tattoo heals beautifully and lasts for years to come.
